Asus TUF Gaming FX505DY, TUF Gaming FX705DY Laptops Launched in India With AMD CPU and GPU

Asus has launched two new gaming laptops in its entry-level TUF gaming series. TUF Gaming FX505DY and TUF Gaming FX705DY are both based on the recently announced AMD Ryzen 5 3550H processor and feature AMD discrete Radeon RX 560X GPU as well as CPU's Integrated Radeon Vega 8D capabilities. In January this year, the first two laptops were announced in CES 2019. Asus avoids the design of both laptops, in which both slim 'nanoedges' are screen borders and reinforced bodies that meet the MIL-STD-810G specification for stability. The company says both models have gone through strong testing and can face extreme environments. Although both laptops are said to be able to protect against vibration, accidental knock and less fall, the small FX505DY model is also certified to avoid falling from the height, although the limit of this is not specified.

The new TUF gaming series is a custom-designed thermal solution with free fans for CPUs and GPUs in laptops, both of which are designed to prevent the formation of dust. Other design touches include LED-backlit keyboard with full numeric keypad, highlighted WASD key, thick space bar, and full-sized arrow keys. Both models will be available in two color options - Red Matter, which includes red backlighting and trims, and Gold Steel, which will facilitate RGB LED.

The new AMD Ryzen 5 3350Hprocessor is a 35W model with four cores and multi-threading, and is part of AMD's second-gen ass Picasso platform using Zen + CPU architecture with an integrated Radeon Vega GPU GPU. It has been seen at 2.1GHz with a boost speed of up to 3.7GHz.

The new TUF gaming FX505DY and FX705DY laptops are listed online with 8GB of RAM, although Asus only says that they can work with up to 32GB of RAM. Small FX505DY will be sold with 1TB SSHD and an optional 128GB SSD, whereas FX705DY is only listed with 1TB SSHD. Both laptops have 48Whr and 64Whr Li-ion batteries and their weight is 2.2Kg and 2.7Kg, respectively.

Both share many general specifications, including full-HD resolution for their screen, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, and DHS: Headphone X audio enhancements. Both have two complementary ports including two USB 3.1 Jane 1 ports, one USB 2.0 port, one HDMI 2.0 output, an Ethernet port and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack.
